Porton Appoints Dr. Yongli Zhong as Chief Scientific Officer

Porton (300363.SZ) announced that Dr. Yongli Zhong, former Principal Scientist at Merck & Co., has joined as Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) to lead innovative process-technology solutions for customers. At Merck for 21 years, Dr. Zhong led process development for multiple innovative drugs from PCC to commercial, with 20+ patents and 90+ papers.

Porton Pharma Solutions Ltd. (300363.SZ) recently announced that Dr. Yongli Zhong has formally joined the company as Chief Scientific Officer (CSO). Dr. Zhong will lead the development of more innovative, competitive-edge technical solutions for customers, leveraging his deep expertise and innovation-driven mindset to strengthen Porton's technological advantages.

Dr. Yongli Zhong graduated from the Sun Yat-sen University Department of Chemistry with both his bachelor's and master's degrees in 1989, then joined the faculty of the Department of Chemistry, staying until the end of 1994. In 1998 he completed his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and that same year joined Professor KC Nicolaou's group at The Scripps Research Institute in the US for three years of postdoctoral research on natural-product total synthesis, new organic reactions, and novel methodologies.

After his postdoctoral research, Dr. Zhong joined the Process Research & Development department at Merck & Co. Over his 21 years at Merck, he worked on innovative-drug process development from PCC to commercial production, holding positions of senior scientist, research fellow, and principal scientist. As a creative organic chemist, he led and played a key role in the design, development, and commercialization of many Merck innovative drugs, tackling complex chemical challenges. His output includes 20+ patents, 90+ papers in international journals, and three book chapters.
